online dating advice message

How do you handle all the messages from admirers on dating sites?
I joined an online dating site this past weekend and I am already overwhelmed. I keep getting messages from men and a few are interesting possibilities. Some I can snip right away because of important areas of incompatibility or from them being too forward, kwim? I just don’t know how to manage everyone and I have no idea what is protocol in respect to online dating.
How do you weed through all the responses and widdle your list down to a manageable select few,…. or one?
Any advice? I’m drowning in emails and don’t know how to manage this! Geesh.
I do like and appreciate the attention. It could be worse. Worse being the other way around. No interests. *LOL* I’m not complaining just need some guidance from those with experience. Thanks.
Yes, I know how to use the delete key and use it for those to which I have no interest. I am wanting to know how to sort through all the possibilities that I do find interesting.
Same thing happened to me! It will “die” down at some point; you are “fresh” to the scene. You may have a bit of a let down, however women are far outnumbered versus the men. And I met my husband back in 2002 on match.com, so a lot has changed!
If you are looking for a relationship, look for people who put time into their profile and who’s pictures look recent. My husband wrote a long email to me responding to my likes and dislikes. That is how I knew he was the one! He didn’t just “wink”. I’d start with those and move on from there.
If you email a bit and get along, move quickly to a call. After two seconds I eliminated a few guys. (I just couldn’t date a guy that talked like a girl or whatever)
Then meet in a public place of course. Whatever you do, don’t drag out the emails and phone calls too long if you really want a relationship. The chemistry has to be there.
Good luck!
PS The guy that said guys are only responding to the picture is just jealous!
